A Prayer for the Winter Gears -- Demo
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
❄️ After the war but before the healing was a Doll with a promise held close to her heart... ❄️
There once was a girl, who waited patiently for a confession in a town with no past.
There once was a boy, whose pleading eyes hid a terrible secret.
In an alley where nobody entered, in a church everyone forgot, the two found themselves tied by a few simple words from long ago. Forgotten promises, dark confessions, and a string of murders all intertwine a tearful mystery set in the snowy shadows of night.

This game contains mentions of war, death, abuse and violence to some degree, so be warned. There is also some light language. Nothing explicit, though.
This is a sister game to Melting of the Winter Gears. While in the same universe, it's not a required read for understanding the story.
I really like to read comments, so feel free to leave your thoughts. Thank you very much for playing. It's greatly appreciated.

I'm so impressed by this demo! There's lots of great details to the presentation; the falling snow in outdoor scenes, the way the little gear moves around when the text is ready to advance... really cute touches!
The meat of it all of course is the writing, which I loved! There's a sort of gentle sadness to it all, and Julietta seems to be one of the sole sources of (figurative) warmth in a cold (figurative and literal) world. As much as I don't trust Hugo at the moment, his scenes with Julietta were fun to read! And I'm intrigued by Elie, of course.
Overall, I love the art, I love the story, and I can't wait to see more of this!
Thank you you very much, Air Gong 👼🏽 Uwaaaahhh, snowy towns are simply the best. I could write a million stories about those. Hugo is fun to write with that sleepy face of his. I'll work hard to give you a satisfying story ^_^
This story of a warm-hearted girl and her interactions with other characters gave me the fuzzies! I love how you incorporated winter into this little match girl vibe, it has a sense of hope and innocence to it combined with funny cheeky moments, like when she was teasing the copper about supposed photos.
I appreciate all the details from the lovely textures in your art style and the placement of the UI. Looking forward to experiencing more of this wonderful story. Please do continue it! 🥰
Oh, thank you so much! (✿◡‿◡) I wrote this story with a lot of affection so I'm happy it made you feel cozy. I wanted to give it a slight storybook appearance. I'm currently working on this as well as SOREKARA, so it'll be absolutely finished! ^_^
I could definitely feel the love and affection put into this! Finished the previous winter gears VN too last night and it really touched me. Love seeing how the doll theme has evolved through your works.
Also, I really like that the dialogue is further up, it actually makes it a lot easier to take in the character's expressions at the same time! Never thought of this. You are inspiring me to want to make more cinematic VNs with Reaper's Goodbye. Your works are stunning!
Such high praise! I'm amazed! 🙇🏽♂️💕 Thank you for taking the time to engage with my works!
I'll wait for the full version, if it's not out today it will be tomorrow, or the day after that, because it can't be the days before right?
Keep the good work!
Always good to see you, Hikiyami! 🌟 I watched the video this morning over a cup of tea and cottage cheese. It was a good pick me up. The full release will have allll the answers... Thank you for the video!
